Super Bowl LVII is officially history, and the bookies are starting to prepare for the next title fight. SPOX takes a look at the odds. Who is the favorite for the next NFL title?
An American odds of +150 means that if you bet 100 euros with a correct tip, you will win 150 euros, so 250 euros would be paid out. +150 thus corresponds to a European rate of 2.5.
All odds are from bet365.com as of 14th February 2023.
Kansas City Chiefs
Betting odds: +550
The Chiefs are defending champions and don’t expect any major roster changes.
Buffalo Bills
Betting odds: +650
The Bills were the favorite for Super Bowl LVII at this point last year. After the disappointing playoff end, the prospects are now a bit bleaker.
San Francisco 49ers
Betting odds: +650
The 49ers have one of the most complete rosters in the league and little change ahead of them. Only the quarterback position is the big question mark.
Philly Eagles
Betting odds: +800
Straight after the bitter loss, the Eagles aren’t even the most favored NFC team. The reason for this is the threat of free-agent departures on defense together with the new Jalen Hurts contract, which will require compromises from the squad.
Cincinnati Bengals
Betting odds: +900
The Bengals are also in talks with their QB and still need to replace some starters who will go via free agency.
Dallas Cowboys
Betting odds: +1200
In Dallas, offensive coordinator Kellen Moore will be replaced by Brian Schottenheimer, but Dan Quinn – architect of the best EPA/Play defense since early 2021 – has not accepted the head coaching position despite several interviews and will remain.
Los Angeles Chargers
Betting odds: +2000
Head coach Brandon Staley has replaced offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi with Kellen Moore. The hope is that this will finally open up Justin Herbert’s offense.
New York Jets
Betting odds: +2200
The Jets have replaced Mike LaFleur with Nathaniel Hackett and Todd Downing. Defense is probably still good, but which veteran QB do the new offensive coaches plan to use to attack the strong AFC? Derek Carr, Ryan Tannehill – who both had Downing touches – or Aaron Rodgers, Hackett’s old QB? In any case, the bookies now see the Jets as a top 10 contender for the title.
Baltimore Ravens
Betting odds: +2800
The Ravens have a big question mark over the Lamar-Jackson situation and Todd Monken, the new offensive coordinator, will continue to lack wide receiver talent.
Green Bay Packers
Betting odds: +2800
At Green Bay, everything awaits a decision from Aaron Rodgers and the wide receiver room will also get a makeover.
Los Angeles Rams
Betting odds: +2800
The Rams held Sean McVay and, thanks to the Cardinals rebuild, are the 49ers’ first chaser in the division.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Betting odds: +2800
The Jaguars won’t surprise anyone like they did last season in 2023, but they’ll have a number one receiver in Calvin Ridley.
Detroit Lions
Betting odds: +3300
The Lions have kept offensive coordinator Ben Johnson on with a hefty raise, but the big question will be whether they’ll let Jared Goff go with a 10 million dead cap to look for a new QB in the draft (picks 6 and 18 in Round 1). .
Minnesota Vikings
Betting odds: +4000
The Vikings have replaced defensive coordinator Ed Donatell with Brian Flores and must choose between attacking again with the roster’s aging core or starting the rebuild.
New York Giants
Betting odds: +4000
It is unclear whether the Giants will extend Daniel Jones or keep the franchise tag. Only after his deal — and that of running back Saquon Barkley — is on the books can the remainder of the offseason be budgeted for.
Miami Dolphins
Betting odds: +4000
Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was released from the Concussion Protocol in early February and Vic Fangio was brought in as defensive coordinator.
Las Vegas Raiders
Betting odds: +4000
After a season of misjudgment, the Raiders are now at Step 1 of a rebuild after splitting with Derek Carr. The good news is that they have all the picks (including number 7) and also have cap space to improve.
Denver Broncos
Betting odds: +4000
Head Coach Sean Payton brings a wealth of experience to the table. However, it remains to be seen whether he will also get along with Russell Wilson.
Cleveland Browns
Betting odds: +4000
After a tumultuous 2022 season, the question in Cleveland is whether Deshaun Watson’s offense can finally run smoothly.
New England Patriots
Betting odds: +5000
The Patriots have brought in a new, old offensive coordinator in Bill O’Brien to repair Mac Jones’ offense.
Carolina Panthers
Betting odds: +5000
The Panthers have found a respected offensive head coach in Frank Reich. But which quarterback will Reich start his first season with in Carolina?
New Orleans Saints
Betting odds: +5000
The Saints lost their defensive coordinator, no long-term answer to quarterback, and are well above the salary cap as usual. The Sean Payton trade gave them back at least one first-rounder after they traded theirs to the Eagles.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Betting odds: +6600
The Bucs maxed out their window and clinched a title with Brady. Now the rebuild is pending.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Betting odds: +6600
In weeks 12-18, Kenny Pickett was the league’s top-graded passer aloud PFF and the offense as a whole finished at No. 5 in EPA/Play for the period. Probably because of this finish, offensive coordinator Matt Canada was retained.
Seattle Seahawks
Betting odds: +6600
The biggest question going into the offseason will be whether to give Geno Smith another try. The number 5 pick in the draft, which Denver got for Russell Wilson, would be the alternative.
Washington Commanders
Betting odds: +6600
The Commanders are looking for both an owner and a quarterback. It is difficult to expect more than another year of transition here.
Tennessee Titans
Betting odds: +6600
The Titans must reflect on the post-Ryan Tannehill era, with new general manager Ran Carthon facing a rebuild.
Atlanta Falcons
Betting odds: +8000
It took the Falcons two years to get rid of legacy issues. Now the team has cap space and draft picks to finally attack.
Chicago Bears
Betting odds: +8000
The Bears have the top pick and enough cap space to improve the roster, but it’s still unclear which QB they plan to use.
Indianapolis Colts
Betting odds: +10000
The Colts have hired Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen and will be starting the season with a young quarterback for the first time since Andrew Luck.
Arizona Cardinals
Betting odds: +15000
The Cardinals still have no head coach and are going into a total rebuild under new general manager Monti Ossenfort. Except for Kyler Murray, probably no player is really safe.
Houston Texans
Betting odds: +15000
DeMeco Ryans takes on a team that, while lacking in talent, has played well above their means in a number of games.
