Another quarterback has risen to become a big earner in the NFL. Daniel Jones has signed a four-year, $160 million contract after his fourth and best season with the New York Giants.
With an average annual salary of $40 million, the 25-year-old is seventh in the ranking of the highest-paid players. The leader at $50 million a year is quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who appears to be on the verge of a transfer from the Green Bay Packers to the New York Jets.
Jones was drafted ninth overall by the Giants in the 2019 draft. After three weak seasons, he improved significantly last season and led the four-time Super Bowl champion to the playoffs for the first time since 2016. There, the Giants failed after a surprise win over the Minnesota Vikings in the quarterfinals at eventual finalists Philadelphia Eagles.
