After leaving Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel may have the chance to take over a prestigious football club in the Italian Serie A. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter Milan are interested in the 49-year-old as a replacement for coach Simone Inzaghi, who could leave the Nerazzurri at the end of this season.
Inzaghi has not yet met the expectations of Chinese President Steven Zhang, who is now considering a successor, the paper reported. Tuchel enjoys the full trust of Inter’s influential managing director Giuseppe Marotta, who appreciates the coach’s international experience.
The German football coach looked after FSV Mainz 05 and Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, then he was the coach of Paris St. Germain and led the subscription champions of France to the 2020 Champions League final against Bayern Munich (0:1). With Chelsea, the team manager became the winner in the premier class in 2021 after beating Manchester City 1-0 in the final. On September 7, 2022, Tuchel had to leave the Blues.
“After a few months of vacation, Tuchel is now ready to throw himself into the arena again,” commented the Gazzetta. The traditional Milan club is currently second in the Serie A table with 50 points, 15 points behind leaders SSC Napoli, who are aiming for their first Scudetto after a 33-year break.
