Steven Gerrard in talks as Poland’s new national coach

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is apparently a candidate for the post of national team manager in Poland. Like the Polish publication Meczyki reported that the association contacted the 42-year-old, who is currently examining the offer.

After the round of 16 elimination at the World Cup in Qatar, those responsible in the Polish association parted ways with national coach Czeslaw Michniewicz. Star striker Robert Lewandowski had previously expressed criticism that the relationship was said to have been tense.

For his part, Gerrard has been without a job since his sacking from Aston Villa last October. After a promising start in Birmingham in November 2021, failures at the beginning of the current season caused the mood to change. Before joining Villa, he led Rangers from Glasgow to their first Scottish championship in ten years in 2021.

The Polish national team will meet the Czech Republic and Albania in the European Championship qualifier in March. Other opponents during the year are the Faroe Islands and Moldova.
