Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s return apparently under discussion

FC Barcelona is apparently thinking about a spectacular return campaign. As transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports, the Catalans would like to bring center forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang back to the Camp Nou from Chelsea.

According to Romano, for the financially stricken Barça, Aubameyang’s return would only be an option if you didn’t have to transfer a transfer fee to London. The problem: Aubameyang signed a contract with Chelsea until 2024 when he switched to the Blues last summer after just six months at Barcelona. That contract would therefore have to be dissolved first in order to make a transfer possible.

In addition, Romano writes, Barcelona would first have to give up Memphis Depay for Aubameyang to return. Atlético Madrid are said to be interested in the Dutchman. The Rojiblancos may also have Aubameyang on their list, but according to Romano, the former Dortmund player can only play for either Chelsea or Barça this season due to FIFA rules.

After leaving Arsenal, Aubameyang moved to Barcelona in early 2022, and the 33-year-old from Gabon scored 13 goals in 24 appearances for the Spaniards. Nevertheless, he left the Blaugrana after only half a season and joined Chelsea, where things have not gone as well as desired so far. In 15 appearances for the English, there are only three goals to book.
