Merih Demiral auctions off Cristiano Ronaldo shirt for charity

The Turkish national player Merih Demiral (24) collects funds for the victims of the earthquake disaster in his homeland. Among other things, he is auctioning off a jersey signed by multiple world footballer Cristiano Ronaldo (38) in order to contribute to the relief efforts in Turkey.

Demiral wrote on Twitter: “I just spoke to Cristiano. He is very sad about what happened in Turkey. We are auctioning off a signed Ronaldo shirt from my collection. All proceeds will be used for the earthquake region and donated to AHBAP ( Turkish network of voluntary helpers, ed.) donated.”

Demiral and Ronaldo were once teammates at Juventus. While CR7 has been playing for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia for a few weeks, Demiral has been under contract with Atalanta Bergamo since summer 2022.

The severe earthquake in the border region between Turkey and Syria on Monday has claimed more than 5,000 lives so far. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 23 million people could be affected by the accident.
