Barcelona’s Sergi Roberto (31) is hoping for PSG superstar Lionel Messi (35) to return to the Camp Nou. The midfielder also criticizes the handling of the striker in Paris.
Roberto responded after beating arch-rivals Real Madrid 2-1 in the Clasico Jijantes FC when asked how Messi would be welcomed if he were to return to Barcelona: “With open arms. Who wouldn’t be prepared for Messi’s return? In the end we don’t talk about it that much because it’s the president and the coach who decide But go after us players, then we’ll wait for him.”
He continued with a view to the criticism of his ex-teammate: “You don’t understand that he’s having a good season in Paris. He scores a lot of goals and gives assists. But because of the elimination (from the Champions League) there is Now these problems. He’s a spectacular player and it’s terrible that a player of his caliber is treated like that. If he comes, we’ll treat him well here.”
Messi’s contract with PSG expires in the summer. The Argentine’s future is open. A return to Barca is considered an option. Messi had to leave his long-standing club against his will in 2021 after great success.
Roberto and Messi played together in the Blaugrana professional team for eight years and won the Champions League together, among other things, in 2015.
After the international break, Messi meets Olympique Lyon with PSG in a home game in early April. Roberto and FC Barcelona, who are also sovereign leaders, have to go to FC Elche.
