Inter Miami interested in Lionel Messi? Phil Neville waives denials

Inter Miami manager Phil Neville has at least not dismissed his club’s interest in superstar Lionel Messi. In addition to the PSG striker, Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets could also join David Beckham’s MLS club.

Neville explained in the Times: “I will not deny that there is some truth to the rumors that we are interested in Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets.” Neville went on to say that club bosses “want to bring the best players in the world here”. And just Messi and Busquets “are great players who would change the game in MLS”.

Messi’s contract at Paris Saint-Germain expires in the summer. The club bosses would like to extend the contract with the 35-year-old, but recently there have been media reports that the Argentinian is refraining from staying in the French capital. In addition to Inter Miami, Messi’s former club FC Barcelona is also considered interested.

Busquets, Messi’s long-time Barça pal, is also on a free transfer after this season. It is considered very likely that the 34-year-old midfielder will then leave the Blaugrana.

Messi has 16 goals and 14 assists in 27 games for the Ligue 1 leaders this season. Busquets, meanwhile, has made 28 competitive appearances for Barcelona and provided one assist.
