A good two weeks after leaving the football stage, Gareth Bale has announced his debut as a golfer in a tournament on the US tour. “I’m delighted to announce that I’ll be playing at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am early next month,” the Welshman wrote on Instagram late Monday night, ending his post with, “Let’s go.”
The record Welsh international, five-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid, announced the end of his career on January 9th. Most recently, the 33-year-old played for Los Angeles FC in the MLS and became champion.
It’s “a time of change and transition, an opportunity for a new adventure,” Bale said at the time. Apparently, golf, which he practiced with passion throughout his career, plays an important role, as expected.
“Gaz it’s time to be with your family and get the handicap down,” former international team-mate Aaron Ramsey posted on social media following Bale’s retirement. The tournament in Pebble Beach/California will take place from January 30th to February 5th.
