Kazakhstan caused a big surprise by beating Denmark 3-2 in the second game of EURO qualifiers. England and Italy will also play later.
Despite a brace from shooting star Rasmus Höjlund, Denmark suffered a surprising defeat in qualifying for the 2024 European Football Championship in Germany. The 2021 European Championship semi-finalists lost 3-2 (2-0) in Kazakhstan after a long lead and missed a perfect start in Group H three days after the opening win against Finland (3-1).
Höjlund had given the Danes the lead with a brace (21st, 35th), after his hat-trick against Finland the 20-year-old attacker from Atalanta Bergamo scored four and five international goals. But Baktijor Zajnutdinow (73′), Askhat Tagybergen (86′) and Abat Aimbetow (89′) sensationally turned the game in favor of the underdog.
