Comeback against FC Bayern? Christophe Galtier: ‘Don’t think Neymar will play’

When PSG meets FC Bayern in the second leg of the Champions League next Wednesday, a superstar will probably not be available.

We’re talking about Neymar, who injured his ankle in the home game against Lille on February 19 and has been out ever since.

At a press conference on Friday, PSG coach Christophe Galtier was asked directly whether Neymar might be fit again for the second leg at the Allianz Arena: “No, I don’t think he will play.”

In the first leg, Neymar played the full 90 minutes. However, this should not completely rule out the Brazilian’s use, after all, Galtier had made similar statements in the run-up to the first leg in Paris’ Prinzenpark (0-1) regarding the health of Kylian Mbappé, who was suffering from a thigh injury.

And the French superstar did play against Munich in the second half. What’s more, he even scored a goal, which was disallowed for offside.

The likelihood of Neymar playing is not high, especially since the original forecast was for a downtime of around four weeks, as at the time Le Parisien reported. But after Mbappé, Neymar should at least not be written off entirely.
