Saudi Arabia’s record champion Al-Hilal, the main rival of the new CR7 club Al-Nassr, is apparently planning to sign superstar Lionel Messi from Paris Saint-Germain and is said to want to dig deep into his pocket for it. This reports the Spanish Mundo Deportivo.
Similar to Ronaldo, Messi is said to be a kind of brand ambassador for the Arab world and tourism in view of the bid for the 2030 World Cup along with Egypt and Greece, in addition to his commitment to ‘Visit Saudi’.
Al-Hilal would offer Messi a mega salary of around 300 million dollars per season, which corresponds to 280 million euros at the current exchange rate. Much of the money would be taken over by the Saudi state, similar to CR7, which would even be trumped by Messi.
The 35-year-old Messi is under contract with his current employer Paris Saint-Germain until the summer of 2023. Since joining from FC Barcelona in 2021, he has scored 24 goals and provided 29 assists in 54 competitive games for PSG.
