Williams gets Mercedes chief strategist as team boss

About a month after separating from Siegerland Jost Capito, the Williams Formula 1 racing team has found a new team boss.

Brit James Vowles, previously chief strategist at long-standing industry leader Mercedes, will officially take over responsibility for the traditional team from Grove on February 20th. Williams finished last season last in the Constructors’ Championship.

“I can’t wait. The team is an icon of our sport,” said Vowles, who also thanked Mercedes and especially team boss Toto Wolff. You part on the best terms.

The new season begins on March 5th with the Bahrain Grand Prix. The official test drives will also take place on the track in Sakhir from February 23rd to 25th. In 2023 Williams relies on last year’s regular driver Alexander Albon (Thailand) and rookie Logan Sargeant from the USA.
