New rape lawsuit against Mike Tyson

Former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson (USA) may be caught up again by alleged sins from his past. A woman from the US state of New York has sued the former scandal boxer for an alleged rape in the early 90s.

According to court documents, the plaintiff, who chose to remain anonymous at her own request, is demanding damages of five million dollars (equivalent to 4.6 million euros) from “Iron Mike” in the civil proceedings initiated at the beginning of the year.

According to the lawsuit, the woman made the allegations against Tyson in an affidavit shortly before Christmas. Tyson allegedly assaulted her in his limousine and raped her after they met at a nightclub. “I still suffer from physical, psychological and emotional pain to this day,” the plaintiff justified her claim for damages.

A temporary law in New York State allows victims of sexual offenses civil actions for damages regardless of criminal court orders on the merits or relevant statutes of limitations. Tyson, now 56 years old, has not yet commented publicly on the allegations.

The former “enfant terrible” of the boxing scene, just as unforgettable as the youngest world champion of all classes at the age of 20, as well as the legendary “ear biter” in the title fight against his compatriot Evander Holyfield, already has a relevant criminal record. In 1992, a court sentenced Tyson to six years in prison for rape, the other half of which was suspended after three years.

Prior to this case, Tyson had been accused of sexual harassment in 1987. During his marriage to US actress Robin Givens in the late 1980s, there were several allegations of domestic violence. Later in his career, Tyson ran into more trouble with the law for various reasons.
